About Susan Smith Mediation
- Susan Smith Mediation offers civil mediations by an experienced, accredited mediator in all areas of business disputes, products liability claims, environmental/land use claims, strata and housing disputes, wrongful dismissals, construction/builders lien claims, and transportation and sports injuries
- Mediations are conducted in-person, or online (Distance Mediation) with private caucusing capabilities
- Susan Smith is a Registered Roster Member (RRM) of the Mediate BC Society, Roster of Civil Mediators (see profile at MediateBC)
- Mediations are offered to all residents, business and institutions of British Columbia, and Canada
- Mediations are scheduled for half or full day sessions, or multiple days, depending on complexity of dispute
- Mediations include pre-mediation briefs, or discussions with the mediator, before the mediation begins
- Mediations may be held in Vancouver, Sea to Sky, or any where else the parties agree
- Cost of mediation may vary depending on number of parties and complexity of dispute
- Parties are responsible for payment of the mediator’s fees, mediation room, catering, taxes and any cancellation fees
- Mediations are scheduled for Monday to Friday between 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, evenings or weekends are available upon request
- Prior to a mediation beginning, all parties must sign an Agreement to Mediate or Agreement to Mediate Online [found under the Get Started Tab]
About The Mediator, Susan Smith
- Initially trained as a mediator in 1991, accredited as a civil mediator in 2012 through Mediate BC
- Registered Roster Member (RRM) of the Mediate BC Society, Roster of Civil Mediators
- Practicing lawyer in civil litigation in Vancouver area since 1985
- Provides mediation services in business and partnership disputes, products liability claims, environmental/land use claims, strata and housing disputes, wrongful dismissals, construction/builders lien claims, and transportation and sports injuries
- Experienced in managing high conflict mediations, de-escalating conflict, and coaching management of high conflict people
- Experienced in facilitating a collaborative environment and process for resolving multi-party disputes
- Trained at Royal Roads University in Online Distance Mediation, accredited to provide online mediations with private caucusing
- Trained in workplace mediations, including planning for and resolving workplace conflict and unfairness, conflict management coaching, interpersonal mediations and group training
- Positive and helpful outcomes for all mediation clients
